Adapting your Teaching

Module Intro

Not surprisingly, the movements and techniques that you’ve learnt and use when teaching skiing and snowboarding are the basis for teaching adaptive snowsports.

Once you’ve set someone up in their equipment with a stance as close as possible to what you’d normally teach, you then use what you’ve learnt from your assessment to teach your student movements as close as possible to what you would normally teach – in a way that suits how they learn based on your cognitive or sensory assessment.

The Adaptive Instructor’s Manual has lots of tips and hints for your teaching. It will be useful to refer to this when working through the topics below and completing the quiz.
