FUNdamentals Ski & Snowboard Progression

As children progress through the FUNdamentals they receive their card or cards that have specific skills for them to progress through. There are six cards for ski and six cards for snowboard. The cards are colour coded to match the terrain and level that they will most likely be skiing or riding. The cards are also numbered in te reo Māori (the Māori language) and have other cultural aspects that will be discussed in the next topic.

Snowboard Cards

Managing cards & assessing skills

You can get a supply of the cards you need from your snow school manager or supervisor.

After the lesson or programme

    • Tick the boxes on each child’s card to indicate the skills that they have achieved.

Make sure you write their name in the space provided.

  • Give children the relevant ski or snowboard card or cards (There is no need to give children the cards that are not relevant to their development.)
  • Encourage children and parents to bring the cards back to the next lesson.

It should be noted that children may be progressing through more than one card at a time. For example, they may not have completed all of one card, but have started to tick off skills in the next.

Basic ski and snowboard progressions are outlined in the tabs below. More detailed information around learning outcomes can be found on the FUNdamentals page of our website.
