Outriggers are used to help someone to maintain a balanced position either through support or assisting with balance. For bi-skis they can also be used to assist with lateral movements.
There are a couple of adjustments – length and brake screw. As a general rule when someone improves their skills and balance the outriggers length and or brake screw can be reduced so the outrigger slide more easily at speed and on steeper terrain.
You can also use cuffs or tape to assist someone to grip the handle.
